The first article is from 2007, and simply shows the beginning of the housing market collapse's effect on our area. The second article is more about the huge 49% drop in the sales volume of homes than it is about a small price increase in the average value. There are several possible and likely explanations for the average price increase; none of which would indicate a recovery of any sort.

I know you are looking for hopeful signs, but I think your obviously stong desire to see recovery is blinding you to the truth about the severity of our economic woes. Things will not get significantly better unless some fundamental changes are made to our economy.

Uh guys..relax. It's just an article about the housing market.
Oh.. and by the way I AM concerned about the housing market, in WNC and in
Florida. (See my topic regarding Seven Falls) The houses that are selling well in WNC are out the average person's league, and obviously don't indicate a recovery in the market. That's why I described the uptick as "strange."
