I never played on elevators. I always got stuck in one.

The first was at Taft Hotel in NYC. The doors finally opened on the first floor. The guard did not believe us.
We wanted to walk up the stairs to the 17th floor when I was in high school. The guard told us it was not
safe. Well stuck in an elevator is not always safe.

The other one I was stuck in was at a Howard Johnson's where I worked. I had to crawl from one elvevator
to the one beside it. I think I made my other passenger (an employee) nervous. I just did not like the
idea trying to squeeze 200 lbs through a small panel. OMG, it was too much.

I prefer the stairs, also. Mainly because I like to walk.
Elevators do come in handy when you are loaded down with suitcases.

When I would travel with Health Examinetics (the 18-wheeler that was a make
shift medical clinic), we would always request a ground floor. Never a high rise.
We were allowed 2 suitcases, a suit bag for uniforms, a carry on bag.

One of my co-workers from National City, CA had one suitcase dedicated for
shoes. One had one for jewelry.
